Google Photos

September 6th, 2008

Man, Google never rests. In addition to coming out with Chrome this week, they’ve released a new version of Picasa - and enhanced the Photo portion of their site. As you know, I love Picasa and use their photo gallery to store all of our family photos. The addition to the gallery is face recognition. It’s pretty wild how they do it, and I must say.. pretty accurate as well. I’m currently only using Google’s free photo gallery space (which I believe is 2gb) so I only upload low res images. Even then, I have to constantly kill an old month in order to upload any new photos. I’d pay for the upgrade accounts in a heartbeat, but even then, I wouldn’t be able to upload anything other than low res if I wanted to keep all of my photos on it.

Anyway, check out my Google Photo gallery and look at how it’s placing names to the faces. Evan and Jacob: Good luck robbing a bank in the future…. Google’s face recognition will pick you out of a haystack in no time.
